Located in the heart of Petersfield, the Lido opened more than 60 years ago to create a safe alternative to swimming in the Heath Pond for the local community.

Community remains at the heart of all we do, with our 25m outdoor pool, which is heated all year round, sauna and cafe.

We offer swim tuition for all ages with the goal of building a healthier and happier community in Petersfield. As a charity, we rely upon the support of swimmers, funders, donors and volunteers to continue to provide this fantastic facility for the local area.

Volunteer

Volunteers play an important role in supporting our community at the Lido. We have a range of volunteers who generously give their time to provide professional support, site maintenance, gardening and customer service. The minimum age for volunteers is 16.

We are currently seeking volunteers to fill the following roles:

We need reliable volunteers who can join our seasonal maintenance days and provide ad-hoc maintenance support throughout the season. Ideally maintenance volunteers will be skilled and experienced with a good attention to detail.

To help maintain the hedges and the garden outside the pool throughout the season.

To help us deliver special events (mostly evenings and weekends), this could include helping in the cafe and helping customers.

The Management Team of the pool are seeking a volunteer Secretary, this role
includes:

  • Supporting the Chair of the Trustees in the planning and organisation of management meetings.
  • Supporting the Chair in the onboarding and offboarding of trustees. Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Supporting the Chair in liaising with external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that the charity is run according to its governing documents and
    annual plan.
  • Ensuring that actions – including those from the risk process are followed up.
  • Ensuring that governing documents such as policies, business plan etc. are up to date and that POASP.
  • Overseeing IT contracts and other business systems.
  • Liaising with the charity commission as necessary.
  • Ensuring memberships and licences are up to date.
  • Keeping administration systems (e.g. shared drive) organised.

The Capital Projects Volunteer will work with the Management Team of the pool to
support the delivery of longer-term capital projects. The volunteer will

  • Support current capital projects
  • Offer input into the Strategic Project Plan
  • Work with the projects group to formulate recommendations for the pool’s management team
  • Have technical knowledge and experience to support the planning, feasibility, estimation, approval and implementation of projects

The Capital Project volunteer will need the time to attend regular meetings. The projects we’re considering would be interesting for someone with a construction/engineering background who could be recently retired and seeking a new challenge.
